Course Reflections

With this being the penultimate week of this course and term, it is time to reflect on what I learned and what I feel has truly been gained.  It doesn't feel like there have been any negative experiences over the last nine weeks.  The positives really stand out to me, though.  Learning the critical thinking method of evaluating information as either a claim or a fact was profound, to me.  The concept is so simple, but it really changes the way you fundamentally view information.  I've always been a bit of a skeptic, and am fairly good a picking out bad sources of information, but the claim vs. fact concept took it one step further.

Part of the prompt for this week's blog entry is how we feel the university or the instructor could provide additional learning support.  This course is very well structured, in general.  My sole suggestion would be to make this course a required course for every degree program and to provide it at the bachelor's level.  I feel like I could have made even better use of these lessons earlier in my college career.  Again, being able to better evaluate and analyze information is extraordinarily powerful.  Titling the course "Fundamentals in Critical Thinking" would probably be more appropriate, as most of the course content centers around critical thinking in general, rather than as a leader.

I look forward to utilizing the things I've learned in this course throughout the remainder of my master's program.
